Operation Eagles Wings

Our goal is to tell the stories of veterans and those currently serving.  We also want to share with the general public what our military brothers and sisters have gone through……and what they are still dealing with.

US ARMY

It is the largest military branch, and in the fiscal year 2020, the projected end strength for the Regular Army (USA) was 480,893 soldiers; the Army National Guard (ARNG) had 336,129 soldiers and the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) had 188,703 soldiers; the combined-component strength of the U.S. Army was 1,005,725 soldiers.

US MARINE CORP

“Accounts of courageous actions from every battlefield on which Marines have fought are permanently etched into our Corps’ history—shining emblems of valor, selflessness, perseverance, and ingenuity—embodiments of the heroic fighting spirit and devotion to duty that our Nation has come to expect of its Marines.”

—General David H. Berger, 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps

US NAVY

The U. S. Navy was founded in 1775 as the Continental Navy during the Revolutionary War. Today, the men and women of the Navy continue to serve our country and protect our freedom.

US AIR FORCE

The U.S. Air Force has the most-advanced fleet of aircraft in the world and the most-skilled pilots to operate them. Whether airpower is needed to defeat an enemy or to provide aid to those in need, we have the Airmen and the aircraft to accomplish the mission.

Coast Guard

Our core values—honor, respect, and devotion to duty, are the guiding principles used to defend and preserve the United States of America.

National Guard

The National Guard is 20 percent of our Joint Force. We are Always Ready, Always There to deter, or fight and win our nation’s wars. Our military-acquired skills and equipment also mean we stand ready for no-notice response to natural or manmade disasters right here at home

US SPACE FORCE

The U.S. Space Force is the 6th independent U.S. military service branch, tasked with missions and operations in the rapidly evolving space domain.

The U.S. Space Force would be the first new military service in more than 70 years, following the establishment of the U.S. Air Force in 1947.

Memories of Vietnam

What as it like to fight in Vietnam.    Read and listen to those poems.

SUICIDE

We are losing more troops to suicide than combat.  It’s a serious problem in the service today.  This picture is of Deana Martorella Orellana, she committed suicide after serving in Afghanistan.  Woman are especially at risk.  If you feel hopeless, reach out for help.  Read this story.

MULTIPLE DEPLOYMENTS

Another challenge is the stress or multiple deployments.    It’s not uncommon to find soldiers of deployed units on their third, fourth, or fifth deployments.   This extra exposure to the additional stress complicates dealing with PTSD and family and personal relationships.   Read this story.
